Approval of March Board Meeting Minutes
Rita VanScyoc made the motion; Barb Souder seconded it.

The motion was carried.

 

Financial Update: 
Dues – Ben Elliott

Ben reported that there are $3,000 outstanding in dues. He gave a rundown of a number of rotarians who are in the process of paying their dues. There is one long- term resident who has an outstanding balance of $800 over 3 years. There appears to be a misunderstanding as this individual thought they were a “friend of rotary” and
therefore was not responsible for the full dues. Currently, there is no classification for “friend of rotary” at Houghton Lake Rotary Club although this existed in the past. Board members are not opposed to bringing back this classification and more research will be
done on this. The updated status of all outstanding dues and will be reported at the May Board Meeting.
 

Commission on Aging- Chores Program - $2,500.00

This was tabled. We will request that COA submit one tool for us to purchase and we will review this. In addition, the list will be circulated to club members in case they have new or gently used tools to donate. 

 

Commission on Aging- Food Insufficiency Pantry - $2,500.00

The Commission on Aging requested this grant for shelving for their food pantry. This grant was declined by the board. It was felt this is duplication as the HL Rotary Club donates to two food pantries in Roscommon County that are open to all.

Friends of Trestle Park - $1,500 (granted $1,000 in 2022)

$1500.00 was approved toward grant for free concerts and other community sponsored activities.

Friends of Collins - $2,000

$1500.00 was approved toward equipment for Field Days, June 2023 and going forward. We will suggest that they apply at Roscommon County Community Foundation for the additional funds

.

Roscommon County Veterans Affairs - $1,000 (granted $750 in 2022)

$1000 was approved for this grant.

Scholarship Update:

Ben Elliott reported that we have received 5 scholarship applications from Senior at Houghton Lake High School.
